I am an Art Teacher here at Arvada West High School, which also happens to be the High School I graduated from in 1997. Having always had an interest in art (raised by an Art Teacher), I took art classes throughout Highschool. I then went on to Jr. College at Red Rocks Community College where I earned an Associate of Arts Degree. I Transitioned to Colorado State University and earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, with a focus in Metalsmithing and Jewelry Design. I have always been drawn to teaching and in tandum walked away with my credentials for a teaching license.
I joined Jefferson County Public School and worked at Edgewater Elementary as a K-6 Art Teacher. I learned so much and appreciate the the time I had working at the elementary level.
I have been a Stay-at-Home Mom over the last 10 years, and I added substituting for Jeffco to my daily routine over the last three. I have always been someone that wants to teach. My favorite game of pretend as a child was playing school, and I always wanted to be the teacher.
I am ecstatic about joining the Arvada West Community to teach my favorite subject, Jewelry Making. Photograpy has been a wonderful avenue for me as well. I look to inspire the students at Arvada West to explore these creative avenues and show them the arts to enhance their choices as they move down their many paths.
